A J-45 with 60s styling, a fixed bridge, and modern electronics

The J-45™ has been the best-selling Gibson acoustic model since its introduction in 1942. Since that time, the model has undergone various cosmetic and specification changes, but has remained fundamentally the same throughout its history, with a distinctly vibrant tone that is uniquely Gibson and utterly appealing, leading to its widespread use on recordings and concert stages worldwide. It comes equipped with the new Gibson-exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs™ HiFi DNA™ pickup system. HiFi DNA offers unprecedented realism when amplified, delivering your guitar’s unique tone and every nuance of your playing to your audience like never before.

The J-45 is known as “The Workhorse,” and the J-45 60s Original, Fixed Bridge lives up to that well-deserved moniker. It features the round-shoulder dreadnought body design, crafted from a solid mahogany back and sides paired with a solid Sitka spruce top that has defined the model since its inception. The 24.75” scale mahogany neck has a comfortable Round profile and is attached to the body with a dovetail joint using hot hide glue for exceptional resonance and tonal coupling. The neck is fitted with a rosewood fretboard that has 20 standard frets and mother-of-pearl dot inlays. The headstock features a gold Gibson logo decal, and is equipped with quality Grover® strap tuners with white buttons, which, along with the Graph Tech® nut, ensure reliable, stable tuning.

The body features 60s-era design elements, including the larger-style pickguard used throughout the era. Available in Vintage Cherry Sunburst and Vintage Sunburst gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finishes, the J-45 60s Original, Fixed Bridge’s pickguard color varies depending on the finish color, with the Vintage Cherry Sunburst featuring a white pickguard, while the Vintage Sunburst has a tortoise-colored pickguard, giving players a choice to match their style and preferences. The J-45 60s Original, Fixed Bridge also features a belly-up rosewood bridge with a fixed bridge and bone saddle, delivering improved tuning stability, fewer bridge-lift worries, and less long-term maintenance. The bridge is also equipped with TUSQ® bridge pins.

Inside, the J-45 60s Original, Fixed Bridge is fitted with the all-new, Gibson-exclusive Baggs™ HiFi DNA™ pickup system. This active system uses two lightweight sensors mounted on the internal bridge plate, paired with individual preamps for full-bodied, amplified acoustic tone that lets the guitar’s character and personality come through with no impact on the unamplified tone. It has comparable gain-before-feedback to an under-saddle pickup. The system also includes soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls that are quick and easy to access while playing, yet remain all but invisible to your audience.

With its mix of iconic design, hand-crafted quality, time-tested, great-sounding tonewood combination, comfortable playability, state-of-the-art electronics, and 60s-era styling, the J-45 60s Original, Fixed Bridge is a guitar that you’ll turn to time and again, and will provide you with a lifetime of musical enjoyment. It comes packed in a Gibson hardshell case for protection at home and on the road.

I've been to a lot of guitar shops, but Miami Guitars is on another level. The selection is curated, not cluttered. Every guitar on the wall plays like butter, and the staff actually knows their gear. Walked in for strings, left with a Custom Shop Strat I'll never let go of.

Miami Guitars has been one of the best, if not the best experience I have had buying a beautiful guitar. Greg and his team were instrumental in ensuring every detail was perfect. The guitar plays like a dream and the setup was flawless out of the case.

The selection at Miami Guitars is incredible! They have a wide variety of guitars, but what really stands out is the personalized service. They helped me compare multiple options, spent an hour with me, and found the perfect fit. Truly a five-star experience.
